Nightmare Five-Colored Light personal show
We are looking for the five individual pieces that make up the five members of Nightmare with keywords that come to mind. Being featured in this magazine for the second time, the five's respective "individual" focus are their own themes from Akihabara to Tokyo Train Station and Roppongi at night. One by one they come to unite the space with their "personal show!"
personal show 03 Hitsugi "Fashion"
Among the five who has the visual appearance, Hitsugi clarifies his reason for trouble and his feelings deliberately come out about his first piercing.
- Did Hitsugi have any interests in fashion before listening to rock music?
Hitsugi: I didn t have any interest in clothes before being awoken to rock.
-- How did you look like when you were an elementary school student?
Hitsugi: I wore regular chino and windbreaker pants, t-shirts and sweatshirts. I like the material from the sweats. Besides that, I don't really wear anything else and that hasn't changed up until now. Even when I'm at home, I wear a parker [hooded sweatshirt]. There's also a jersey [track jacket] brand I really like.
-- What would that be?
Hitsugi: The brand is Peace Maker. I have about 6~7 varieties of this jersey from top to bottom.
-- Then when was the first time you dyed your hair?
Hitsugi: When I was in junior high school. Everyone bleached their hair themselves back then. My hair was brown after doing it. After graduating junior high, my hair was blonde after I stopped going to high school for about three months. After that were red, orange, and pink. I did a lot of warm colors. I was awoken by hide-san.
-- What kind of reflection did hide-san have at that time on the young boy Hitsugi?
Hitsugi: Well~, being flashy and cool. I can't come up with ordinary words to say this.
-- The costumes hide-san wore were cute also.
Hitsugi: It's pop. I also loved how he made people understand his musical sense.
-- If you didn't know about him, you don't think you'd be in a band right now?
Hitsugi: I wouldn't. If I didn't know about X and LUNA SEA, I wouldn't have known about hide-san. I may not have even touched a guitar.
-- When did you first begin to get piercings?
Hitsugi: I got my lip done right after I graduated from junior high school.
-- Your first piercing was on your lip and not your ear?
Hitsugi: Because everyone had their ears done (laughs).
-- Was it painful?
Hitsugi: It was painful. Right after I entered high school, I wasn't getting along well with the guy who was sitting behind me, but he eventually spoke to me and said "Do you want to get a piercing together?" We did it while we were in class.
-- Ehh?! With no anesthesia?
Hitsugi: Yes. I placed a mirror on the top of my desk and used a safety pin. I thought "Ow~" and if I was to turn around, that guy would've also thought the same (laughs). But since this was during class, we couldn't use our voices loudly to express it, right? We tried our best opening it and if I was to go home with it, my parents would go "Why did you put a hole on your face? Hurry up and take it off and would get angry about it, but I went through a lot of pain and trouble to do it so I wouldn't have taken it off.
-- Did the number of piercings gradually increase when you were first in a band?
Hitsugi: Yes. If I kept on adding it this way, Nightmare would become like this. The piercings came in pieces at a time from when I was 17 to 18 years old and thought, "I have no choice but to be in a band."
-- Were you put into this decision at first?
Hitsugi: I came to be attached to my first piercing and everything else as well from the start.
-- You already knew how you would look with the piercings?
Hitsugi: I knew. When I went drinking with friends around my hometown and they said "I forgot how your face would look if you took all of that off. But I'll remember you 10 years from now and that's something that won't change." I felt if I didn't have piercings on my face, I'd feel uncomfortable looking at myself. It gives me a bad feeling when it knocks against my teeth though.
-- You don't feel it's an inconvenience?
Hitsugi: Not really.
-- What about when you started putting on make-up?
Hitsugi: That was when I met Sakito and an acquaintance. It was during the time when he was in a copy band and we were leaving the small livehouse. We had a female friend who had make up on her and she said, "What? On that face?" I had a really bad feeling about it. People used to say, "Hitsugi looks different when he has make-up on. It looks really good after it's completed." I was really happy when they said that. I started wearing contacts after I had my piercings as well. My make-up is strange but it had a general notion of being popular.
-- You didn't feel you wanted to show yourself as beautiful?
Hitsugi: There was. It was more like "I want to be like this more." I don't want to have natural make-up. Even now I would say that's not Hitsugi. When I put make-up on myself, it would tighten the meaning of it. I don't know what's going to happen in the far future since the other four don't put on make-up. That's why I feel it's necessary for me to do so.
-- You came to understand completely who "Hitsugi" is with your hair and make¬up.
Hitsugi: Exactly. I wonder what kind of switch I have whenever I'm home alone. It might be something like a double personality when the character is added. I think it's an excuse to have that kind of meaning to give this kind of feeling as "Hitsugi." Contacts also became a necessity afterwards.
-- When did you start using colored contacts?
Hitsugi: When I was around 18 to 19. We were photographing for our single during our indies era.
-- Your interest in colored contacts grew more and more?
Hitsugi: It did. The first pair I bought was cat eyes and it grew from there. I have just come across the really ones big in size right now. Those contacts are a deep red.
-- You put those on for today's photo shoot.
Hitsugi: I've changed them around four times already. When I first saw those contacts by chance at first, I didn't think they were that big. I thought, "Those are really contacts? Cool!" This was the kind of glow I wanted.
-- Do you have a wish to be a superhuman?
Hitsugi: Yes, but this world isn't in two dimensions. People's lives have this feeling of an inorganic matter and for people to be real is a very raw part I personally ask for. I guess my imagination as an artist allows me to be able to throw away unnecessary things. This isn't anything relating to the fans' distance and I don't want to leave them behind. I know what my own ideal is in existence.
-- Then if you had a kouhai (a junior) who's a visual musician, what kind of existence do you wish to have to make them understand visual?
Hitsugi: I don't think I'd meet them but I really like the fact they know of my existence. The generation from ten years ago, including myself, liked how we watched the male and female artists and there was no wish for make-up. I know a person I like would take up that appearance and be happy with it. I really like Hotei-san [former guitarist for BOOWY] and is a great guitarist, but I don't think I would meet him though. I want to put in a lot of effort in becoming awesome on a bigger scale right now.
-- Thinking about that connects to the visual Hitsugi.
Hitsugi: Yes. Talking to me about this is really human-like (laughs). When I stand on stage now, I'm very flashy and people seeing that would go, "What's up with this guy?" or "He's changed." Fans in the whole town would talk about this and shake my hand normally would have this unsophisticated mannerism about them. I don't like that.
-- I see.
Hitsugi: Nightmare is realizing the difference between "goal" and "aspiration." I would hear the stage director ask "What kind of way do you want to present yourself?" a long time ago and I'd respond, "Like hide-san." I was shocked to hear him say, "Then you have no choice then to get plastic surgery. Hide is hide. You have to be original also." After he said that, I understood the meaning more. Certainly what I remember of hide-san is what my goal and ideal is to become, but I'm not him. If there was a person I liked who was younger than me and is a musician, I don't think I would be able to say those words because I would want them to recognize the artist's existence they want to become.

Peacemaker.
рандомный слух с форума: "There's a reason why they nicknamed Hitsugi ドM君 (Do-M-kun= Extreme masochistic)."
